SJSM is designed to provide students with a unique combination of academic education, practical ministry experience, and spiritual formation. Students complete accredited college coursework through Southeastern University while participating in hands-on ministry through Atco Assembly of God. Students who are not interested in pursuing an accredited degree can attend SJSM through our non degree seeking track and take classes through Pathways. All students also have the opportunity to learn alongside other ministry students, receive mentorship, develop leadership skills, and gain practical experience that prepares them to serve effectively in a variety of ministry settings.

High school juniors, high school seniors, high school graduates, and adult learners are eligible to apply to SJSM.

Yes. Previously earned college credits may be transferred according to Southeastern University’s transfer credit policies. Transfer credits will be evaluated by SEU to determine which credits are applicable toward a student’s program.

SJSM follows Southeastern University’s rolling application policy. Applications may be submitted throughout the year. Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible to allow sufficient time for admissions, financial aid, and enrollment processes.

SJSM itself is not an accredited institution. Accredited college coursework is provided through Southeastern University. Students pursuing an SEU degree will be enrolled through Southeastern University and will be subject to SEU’s academic policies and requirements.

Housing may be available on a case-by-case basis. Students who need housing should contact SJSM to discuss their individual situation and available options.

Yes. SEU Students may be eligible for federal financial aid. All SEU site students will receive a practicum fee waiver. In addition, SJSM offers its own scholarships. For more information, please visit our Scholarships page.

Academic coursework is completed online through Southeastern University. Students who are not enrolled through SEU will take classes through Pathways. SJSM students will gather together twice a week for designated academic days, providing an opportunity to work through coursework in a collaborative environment with other students and receive support throughout their studies. Ministry practicums and hands-on ministry experiences are conducted through Atco Assembly of God.

Yes. During their first semester, all SJSM students will attend and serve at Atco Assembly of God as their primary church and ministry placement. Beginning in their second semester, students may have the option to begin serving at their home church while continuing to participate in SJSM. Approval and ministry placement requirements may apply.

A practicum is a supervised, hands-on ministry experience that allows students to apply what they are learning in the classroom to real ministry settings. Rather than only learning about ministry academically, students have opportunities to serve, lead, observe, and develop practical ministry skills under the guidance of experienced ministry leaders. Practicums are eligible to be completed for academic credit.

SJSM is designed to give students meaningful experience serving in an active local church and ministry environment. Depending on their ministry area and responsibilities, students may gain experience in areas such as children’s ministry, youth ministry, worship, outreach, discipleship, administration, leadership, pastoral ministry, and other areas of church ministry. Students will have opportunities to develop communication, leadership, teamwork, organization, and ministry skills while serving alongside experienced leaders.

Yes. SJSM’s schedule is designed to provide students with opportunities to work while completing their studies and ministry responsibilities. However, students should carefully consider their work schedule in relation to their academic requirements, practicum responsibilities, and other SJSM commitments.

Yes. SJSM provides opportunities for students to build relationships and participate in community outside of their academic coursework and practicums. Student activities may include social gatherings, ministry events, special services, outreach opportunities, and other activities throughout the year.

The goal of SJSM is to equip students with the academic foundation, practical ministry experience, leadership skills, and spiritual development needed to serve effectively in ministry and related fields.
Depending on their degree and individual goals, graduates may pursue opportunities in areas such as pastoral ministry, youth ministry, children’s ministry, worship ministry, missions, outreach, church administration, discipleship, or other ministry-related roles. Some students may also choose to continue their education through additional undergraduate or graduate studies.

SJSM seeks to place students in ministry areas that align with their interests, gifts, calling, and educational goals. Students may communicate their preferred ministry area during the placement process. Final ministry placements are subject to the needs of the ministry, available opportunities, and SJSM leadership.

Student life at SJSM is centered around community, discipleship, academics, and ministry. Because students learn and serve together, they have regular opportunities to build relationships with fellow students, receive mentorship, participate in ministry, and grow together spiritually and academically. SJSM is designed to be more than simply an academic program—it is an environment where students can develop as individuals, leaders, and ministers while preparing for their future.

No. South Jersey School of Ministry does not currently offer a dual enrollment program. Students can apply in their junior or senior year but will not be admitted for classes until after they graduate.
